How to print sudoku puzzles

  1. Choose the grid. 9 × 9 is the classic puzzle; 4 × 4 and 6 × 6 are smaller versions for children and beginners.
  2. Choose a level and how many puzzles you want. Every puzzle is new, and each one has exactly one solution.
  3. Under “More options”, choose how many go on a page: one or two for large print, four or six to make a puzzle book.
  4. Download or print the PDF. The puzzles come first; the solutions follow at the back, with the missing numbers in red.

Tips for solving and teaching sudoku

  • The rule: every row, every column and every box holds each number once. That is all there is to it.
  • Start with the rows, columns or boxes that already have the most numbers: the missing ones are the easiest to find.
  • Easy and medium puzzles can always be finished one square at a time, with no guessing. Hard puzzles need you to think a few steps ahead.
  • For children, start with 4 × 4. Once they can finish those on their own, move on to 6 × 6, then easy 9 × 9.
  • Sudoku is a favorite in care homes and clubs: one or two puzzles a page prints the numbers large and easy to read.

Common questions

Is it free?

Yes, every puzzle and every solution. No account, no email and no watermark.

Does every puzzle have one solution?

Yes. Each puzzle is checked by a solver before it reaches the page, so there is exactly one way to finish it.

What makes a puzzle easy or hard?

Easy puzzles start with more numbers and can be solved by finding squares where only one number fits. Medium puzzles start with fewer. Hard puzzles start with as few as the single solution allows, usually 22 to 28 numbers, and need longer chains of reasoning.

How many puzzles can I print?

Up to 60 at a time, from one to six on a page. Choose “New puzzles” for another set.

Can I print the same puzzles again?

Use “Copy link to these puzzles”. The link rebuilds exactly the same puzzles and solutions. Puzzles you download or print on this device are also listed under “Your recent sheets”.

Can I print without downloading?

Yes. Print, next to Download, sends the puzzles and solutions straight to your printer. On some browsers and on phones it opens in a new tab, ready to print from there.
