Five fraction worksheets, from pictures to numbers: name the shaded part of a circle or bar, shade a fraction yourself, compare two fractions with <, > or =, then add and subtract fractions that share a denominator. Choose denominators from 2 to 12 on any of them.

Ideas for using these sheets

  • Fold a paper strip into halves, then fourths, before the first sheet, so “equal parts” is something children have made.
  • Keep the denominators to 2, 3 and 4 at first; open the settings and set them to 2 to 4.
  • Ask why 1/3 is bigger than 1/4 even though 4 is bigger than 3: fewer parts means bigger parts.
  • Let children check comparing answers by shading both fractions on the same-sized bar.

Every setting can be changed above before you print, and “New problems” makes a fresh sheet as often as you like.
